  • A. Purpose of the Human Rights Charter
  • Howon Co., Ltd. proclaims this Human Rights Charter to actively implement human rights management, prevent human rights violations arising from business operations, and mitigate related risks. To implement human rights management, Howon Co., Ltd. complies with international standards and guidelines related to human rights and labor, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct.
  • B. Scope of Application
  • This Human Rights Charter applies to all executives and employees of Howon Co., Ltd., including those at domestic and overseas plants. Furthermore, Howon employees must adhere to this Charter when dealing with suppliers and encourage all stakeholders in business relationships to respect it. If any matter covered in this Charter conflicts with local laws, local regulations shall take precedence. This Charter may be amended and utilized to reflect the legal requirements and industry characteristics of the respective country, and separate detailed policies may be established if necessary. Except where special provisions exist in local laws, the organization's articles of incorporation, or company regulations, all executives and employees of Howon Co., Ltd. shall perform their duties in accordance with this Human Rights Charter.

  • To respect the human rights of all executives and employees of Howon Co., Ltd. and resolve risks, we establish internal systems necessary to implement human rights management in accordance with this Charter. We regularly evaluate and improve human rights risks and fully share the results with stakeholders. Howon's dedicated human rights management organization implements the human rights risk management system in accordance with the principle of good faith, periodically reviews human rights management procedures, and actively updates the management system to reflect social changes.

  • 2. Fundamental Principles
  • Article 1. Non-Discrimination
  • Howon Co., Ltd. does not discriminate against any executive or employee in any aspect of employment—including recruitment, hiring, promotion, training, wages, and benefits—based on gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, family status, social status, political opinion, pregnancy, or childbirth without justifiable reasons. We build an organizational culture that respects diversity and apply a zero-tolerance policy to confirmed cases of discrimination.
  • Article 2. Prohibition of Workplace Harassment
  • Howon Co., Ltd. strictly prohibits any acts that cause physical or mental suffering or deteriorate the working environment by utilizing one's position or status in the workplace beyond the appropriate scope of work. Such acts include harassment, bullying, threats, and sexual harassment that causes sexual humiliation or aversion through sexual words or behavior.

  • Howon Co., Ltd. complies with the statutory working hours of each country where it operates and pays all executives and employees fair compensation for their labor, along with payslips. In addition, we provide sufficient training opportunities and an appropriate working environment for job performance to support the capability development and quality of life for all employees.
  • Article 4. Humane Treatment
  • Howon Co., Ltd. respects the privacy of all executives and employees, thoroughly protects personal information, and prohibits any form of mental or physical coercion, abuse, or unreasonable treatment.
  • Article 5. Guarantee of Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
  • Howon Co., Ltd. respects the labor laws of the countries where this Charter applies and provides sufficient communication opportunities for all executives and employees.
  • Article 6. Prohibition of Forced Labor
  • Howon Co., Ltd. does not compel any labor against an employee's free will through acts such as assault, threats, confinement, or by demanding identification documents or visas.
  • Article 7. Prohibition of Child Labor
  • 1) Howon Co., Ltd. prohibits child labor in principle. The term "child" refers to anyone under the age of 15 (or 14 depending on national law), under the age of completion of compulsory education, or under the minimum age for employment in the respective country, whichever is higher.
    2) For candidates whose employment is confirmed, Howon Co., Ltd. requires the submission of a resident registration certificate before signing a labor contract to verify that they exceed the legal minimum age for employment.
    3) If child labor or an individual under the legal minimum age is discovered to have been hired, the company shall immediately cancel the employment, notify their legal guardian, and safely transfer custody. However, with the legal guardian's consent and the submission of an employment permit issued by the Minister of Employment and Labor, the company may review continued employment to provide a labor opportunity, provided that it does not restrict their educational opportunities.
  • Article 8. Prohibition of Human Trafficking and Exploitation
  • Howon Co., Ltd. prohibits any acts of recruiting, transporting, transferring, harboring, or receiving personnel by means of threat, use of force or other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud, or deception for the purpose of exploitation.
  • Article 9. Guarantee of Industrial Safety
  • Howon Co., Ltd. regularly inspects workplace facilities, equipment, and tools to ensure that all executives and employees work in a safe environment, and establishes appropriate measures and follow-up support to prevent physical and mental risks.
  • Article 10. Protection of Local Residents' Human Rights
  • All executives and employees of Howon Co., Ltd. shall ensure that the human rights of local residents are not violated during the performance of their duties, protecting their rights to health, safety, and freedom of residence.
  • Article 11. Protection of Indigenous Peoples' Rights
  • 1) We adhere to Howon's Human Rights Declaration, which follows the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and the core convention principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
    2) We recognize the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities in accordance with the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
    A. We recognize traditional access rights for hunting and gathering plants and animals for survival, as well as indigenous, cultural, and religious traditions, customs, and ceremonies.
    B. We recognize and protect the customary, traditional, and collective land tenure, copyright, or intellectual property ownership of indigenous peoples and local communities.
    C. For activities that may affect the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities, we secure Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) based on methodologies following the UN-REDD FPIC guideline process. If harm is caused or contributed to the land, territories, rights, or resources of indigenous peoples and local communities without prior FPIC, appropriate measures will be taken through mutually agreed procedures, and implementation will be monitored via community members and/or a mutually agreed third party.
    D. We maintain continuous, effective, and culturally appropriate channels of dialogue with indigenous peoples and local communities.
    3) We respect and support the right to an adequate standard of living, food security, and the economic, social, and cultural rights of local communities.
  • Article 12. Protection of Customers' Human Rights
  • When providing products and services, all executives and employees of Howon Co., Ltd. must prioritize the protection of customers' lives, health, and property, and take the best possible measures to protect personal information collected through business activities.
  • Article 13. Compliance with Living Wage
  • Moving beyond paying the statutory minimum wage, Howon Co., Ltd. complies with the principle of paying a living wage necessary for executives, employees, and their families to maintain a basic standard of living.
  • Article 14. Establishment of Fair Trade Relations with Partners
  • All executives and employees of Howon Co., Ltd. shall comply with domestic and international laws in business relations with partners, establish a transparent and fair trading system, and prohibit any unfair practices utilizing a superior position. Furthermore, any acts of workplace harassment, such as causing physical or mental suffering beyond the appropriate scope of work, are strictly prohibited.
